Beyoncé Laser Lemonade 10/13
Pacific Science Center
(via @PacSci)

The Pacific Science Center is back with another DOPE Beyoncé laser show! This time they'll be rocking out to Queen Bey's iconic Lemonade album for a show they're calling "Laser Lemonade."

Back in February I went to their regular Beyoncé laser show, which featured music from her entire catalog, including Destiny's Child... but was thrilled to learn "Laser Lemonade" would focus solely on her Lemonade album, which is one of my favs. I mean, I'm still in formation and was actually learning the Formation World Tour choreography in my living room last week.

I'm already drinking tea to warm up my vocal chords so I can prepare to sing along. I can't promise this won't turn into karaoke for me.

Laser Lemonade kicks off this Friday, 10/13 @ 10:30p and tickets are $12. The show is 60 mins and please note that there will be NO LATE SEATING, so you should plan to arrive at least 15-30  mins early so you can snag a seat.

I'm not sure how long Laser Lemonade will run, but they have 1030p show times planned for the remaining Fri/Sat dates in October. Cop your ticket and prepare to get your entire life!

Beyonce Spends $6k on Sex Toys?

When news broke of Beyonce and Jay-Z having a $6k "Drunk in Love" shopping spree in a sex shop, it got me to thinking... how does one actually drop $6k in a sex shop?

Babeland Official Store, Jimmyjane Little Steel Tonight Eternity, Vibrators, 01 625 00
Jimmyjane Little Steel Tonight
Well, first my boyfriend asked the question... let me give him some credit, but then it got me to thinking... what in the world can someone spend $6k worth of coins on? Gold plated butt plugs, sex swings covered in Swarvoski Crystals, a fancy dildo for each day of the week?

Well, I did a little research (because I live in Seattle and I actually DO have that type of free time lol) and if you're in the market to drop thousands of dollars on sex toys, there IS an actual market for you!

Retailer 'Babeland' (the store Beyonce and Jay-Z were at), has a host of items to tickle your fancy.  I did a little research and discovered the Jimmyjane Little Steel Tonight Eternity vibrator retails for $2k.

Yes!! You read that correctly. 2 Thousand dollars. Why? Well, one end is covered in 28 round cut, black diamonds. If diamonds are a girl's best friend, this vibrator takes things to the next level! Yowzers.

Babeland Official Store, Lelo Yva, Vibrators, 01 043 00
Lelo Yva Vibrator
Or you could buy the Lelo Yva, an 18-karat gold plated vibrator for $3,900!! Those are a lot of coins to drop on sexual pleasure.

Just looking at the prices on these items had my eyes bulging out of my head. Yes, this is probably chump change to the Carters, but all I could think about was: 1) buying a vibrator for $4k OR 2) hopping a flight to Thailand and luxuriating for a week or two. Hmmmm... that's an easy decision to make lol.

So, my question to you: What's the most you've ever dropped on sex toys?

Beyonce cut her hair. Why do you care?

I was getting ready to write an eloquent post about period panties lol.. but then low and behold, Beyonce... Ms Queen Bey herself took out her signature weave and flood the internet streets with the debut of her new, short 'do.

It's funny because I feel like so many celebs are known for their constant hair changes, so in theory it shouldn't be that big of a deal... but I haven't been living under a rock, so I get it - - Beyonce is a big deal and we care about what she does to her hair.

So, my thoughts? I think it's cool to see her experimenting with her look. I'm VERY interested in seeing all of the blog posts that will appear tomorrow morning. I'm sure anyone that cares about hair is in the midst of prepping a post on this topic lol. I wonder if Beyonce's new hair will break Twitter tomorrow? lol..

What do you think of her short hair?

Who are Beyonce's Dancers?

I woke up at 4am this morning unable to sleep and decided that I wanted to know who Beyonce's dancers were. Yeah. Welcome to the world of randomness that is my mind. My boyfriend says that I suffer from "shiny ball syndrome" and I'd have to agree... but I'd probably be thinking about something else before I could lol.

Back to my story - - I woke up in the middle of the night and realized that going back to bed wasn't about to happen, so I pulled out my trusty iPhone and decided to google Beyonce's dancers. Everyone knows the one with the curly hair that's been with Beyonce forever (Ashley Everett) but who were the others? What was their life about? It was 4am and I just had to know lol...

Turns out Dance Spirit magazine just recently featured them this month!

The ladies range in age from 24-29 and have a wide variety of dance backgrounds - - one even having worked at McDonalds. Talk about an upgrade! From working the fries to strutting the stage with the Queen Bey! Yes, please. I love that Beyonce employs such a talented, diverse group of ladies. Check out a little bit about them below and click here for the full story here.

Hajiba Fahmy

Sarah Burns
26; Perth, Australia
First Beyoncé job: “Revel Presents: Beyoncé Live,” 2012
On how she scored it: “I was living in L.A., went to an open audition and got the call from my agent that I had booked the job. Everything I’ve done with Beyoncé since then has been a direct booking.”

Hannah Douglass

First Beyoncé job: “Revel Presents: Beyoncé Live,” 2012
On rehearsals: “You have to be ready for anything at any time. There are so many elements—the band, the dancers, the stage—and you don’t always have every piece of the puzzle at once. Your job is to be on your game and master your field.”

Kimmie Gipson
29; Plainfield, NJ
First Beyoncé job: I Am…World Tour, 2009
On taking the stage each night: “I anticipate the moment when the lights go out and everybody starts to yell. It sends chills all through my body and my nerves turn to excitement. We all hear it onstage, we all feel it, and then we’re like, ‘Let’s do it.’ It’s so powerful.”

See them in action!!!

Thickie Thursday: Baddie Bey Edition

I'll be honest... I had a decent Thick Neck lined up, but then I saw the full spread for Beyonce's GQ shoot and well, that changed everything! lol... She likes to be called "King Bey" so I'll go ahead and let her cancel out the boys this week.

For the full GQ Interview click here.

We run this....

I'm the first to admit that I didn't like this song when it dropped. I actually still don't care for the album version, but the video track has claimed me as the next victim of B Season! Yes, I'm admitting it right now: Beyonce's "Run the World" has grown on me like a fungus! Since watching her captivating performance on the Billboard Music Awards Sunday night I've been singing the song nonstop.

I came across Sean Bankhead's take on her video via YouTube and wanted to share. I think some of the choreography was executed sloppily, but I like seeing a different take on her song.

What do you think of the video? Has the song grown on you yet?

All hail the Queen

It's impossible to watch this video and not be blown away by Beyonce. Not only did she manage to rock this song (that many have not been feeling), but she proved once again why she's an unstoppable entertainer. The performance was amazing and she was the highlight of the show (only reason I watched).

As she accepted her award I almost teared up at how beautiful, yet humble and talented this young woman is!!! I'm excited for B season and can't wait for the album "4" to drop.

All hail the Queen.

It's an epidemic

This is something that has bothered me for some time now... I think that there's a devastating epidemic of ridiculously over the top, flamboyant gay guys in the black community - - primarily in the 16 - 25 age range. Now, don't get me wrong, I love gay guys. I think they're fab... but I don't buy for one second that you popped out the womb switching your hips, rolling your neck and snapping your fingers. Every time I go into Forever21 there is always a group of young, gay, black males and they are like WAY over the top with how they're acting. It makes you feel like asking "are you putting on a show?" I don't remember gay guys when I was in HS acting like fools. I mean, I have no problem with guys wanting to play catcher and receiver but why can't you just act normal. I mean, does H&M really require a dramatic entrance? Must you roll your eyes, smack your lips and pop your hip with folded arms? It's baffling and disturbing on some levels. Maybe the best way to describe it is like the way I detest ghetto, ignorant acting people on the bus ... I equally find my stomach doing flips when I see guys that are acting like women... hood ass chicks at that with entirely too much sass.

I was sent this video from a girlfriend of mine and it shows some teenage boys dancing at their school. They're performing to Beyonce's "Freak 'Um Dress" and while they definitely entertain and put on a good show, I must admit that if I was the parent in the audience I can't say I'd be holding my head up high watching my son shake it across the stage better than most women...

Maybe I'm being narrow minded on this one... Any thoughts?

Style Watch: Blonde Ambition

Winter must be coming to a close end because Beyonce has gone back blonde!!! Most people go dark in the winter and light in the summer... and I'm a fan of darker hair but it's nice to see our girl Beyonce getting out of her hair rut (rocking the basic, boring bump she's been doing lately... I liked it at first but was over it pretty quickly). Spotted at the LAX airport, Beyonce was rocking a cute pair of jeans, heels, a tee and jacket. I like this look. It's casual and laid back but still hot. I hope B keeps her hair like this for a while (or at the very least decides to keep switching things up with any of her gorgeous lace fronts).

Me No Likey

I'm adamant that wealthy celebrities have no excuse to look a mess - especially when their image is their business. Beyonce stepped out to the "Notorious" movie premiere last night in this get up. I'm disappointed in her. She looked a mess to me. I don't like the sloppy look of the dress, the shawl is...well, is it part of the dress or separate? Her hair didn't seem to be done...and if that's a lace front, umm...I just know. Beyonce usually kills the fashion game on the red carpet so I'm not used to seeing her look so thrown together. What do you think?

New Beyonce

One of the few upbeat club songs on "I am...Sasha Fierce", "Diva" is a standout hit on the album.

I like that she keeps with the black and white theme as well as the idea of just her and 2 dancers. I wasn't a fan of the lighting in the video. I thought it distracted more than it added to the drama. I'm not sure if I understood the theme of the video...it's kind of like they thru together a bunch of good ideas but ultimately they didn't flow together. Nevertheless, Beyonce is a true "diva" and serves us up a great song. I like how she ended the video with a snippet of "video phone", another song I love. I think she's taking a page out of the Lil Wayne "how to make a video" handbook as he did the same thing (ending a video with the song for his next video...almost having the videos trail into one another) for his The Carter III album.

Also just released is the video for the ballad "Halo". This light, airy song is further complimented by the stripped down, organic feeling of the video. I love the over the top glamour of Sasha Fierce but makeup free, pony tail, white tee Beyonce is what I prefer.

Style Watch: Classic Updo

Beyonce, pictured at the 2008 Kennedy Center Honors, rocked a classic updo - - the prime example of a hairstyle that will never get old. An updo is a great way to add a hint of sophistication and class to your everyday style. For the winter, try it on a day when you won't need a hat. Nothing ruins a hairstyle faster than smooshing it with a hat. I'm a fan of less perfect hair so I'd suggest adding a cute messy bun of some sort to the back and though big hair is fun, I'd lower the poof up top a bit. Here are some other takes on the classic updo:

This is my version of the 3-minute messy updo! This has definitely turned into my go-to winter hairstyle. lol...

And the Oscar goes to...

Last night I saw Cadillac Records and while the movie was okay, Beyonce's acting wasn't anything to write home about. I've found myself baffled by the fact that people have mentioned to her, namely Oprah during a recent interview, that she had "Oscar buzz" surrouding her performance. Excuse me? Oscar buzz? I think that Oprah was putting the "gas your head up" tank into over drive.

Beyonce does a decent job in the movie...but since when is a grammy award winning singer playing another grammy award winning singer this big, dramatic undertaking?

Everytime Beyonce makes a movie there doesn't have to be "oscar buzz" surrounding her performance. There are tons of legitimate actors...great actors...that have never won an oscar. Let's allow Beyonce the chance to get out of acting school and get her feet wet a little more before we throw that pressure on her.

On a lighter note, I must commend Beyonce for being an amazing humanitarian. She donated her ENTIRE salary from the movie to the Phoenix House Rehab for Women located in New York. That's a wonderful way to spread the holiday cheer.

They Meet

By now everyone has seen the youtube video featuring Shane Mercado sashaying his way to the addictive "Single Ladies (put a ring on it)". Recently, Shane was able to meet the originator of the video, Ms. Beyonce Knowles (or should I say Mrs. Beyonce Carter???) They chatted on the red carpet of her new film Cadillac Records.

Speaking of Cadillac Records, take a look at this behind the scenes video for the movie. This actually made me a little bit more excited about it. It opens this Friday....check it out!

Music News

After growing on me over the course of 2 weeks, I bought Beyonce's cd (I am...Sasha Fierce) on Tuesday! Slightly annoyed that she decided to not only have a double disc, but a standard and deluxe version as well, I shelled out the $19.10 (with tax) and bought it. I don't know if I was more excited to get the cd open and start listening or just look at the pics in the cover booklet...

But that's where it stopped. Yes, Beyonce is well, Beyonce. She is sure to put out some hot songs, have a hotter performance and add a few dances for us girls (and some guys on youtube) to do in the club. However, the cd was somewhat disappointing. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent cd. I actually like it...I can pretty much play it from start to finish without skipping any tracks...that is until you have to insert the 2nd disc...which wouldn't be as annoying if she had put more than 8 songs on each disc (5 songs for the standard). This whole "Sasha Fierce" thing was the biggest gimmick of 2008. The songs on the Sasha Fierce disc are typical Beyonce...just club songs. I think the whole thing was pointless and feel as if I officially got GOT by buying into the whole thing. On the flip side, I am grateful for the "single ladies" video which spawned countless youtube folks to try their hand at it...not to mention myself (I only bothered learning my favorite parts...and by the time I start doing it in the club I've usually had 1 too many drinks).

Feeling lackluster about my Beyonce experience, it made me think back to August when I bought Solange's CD...I have to say that I think Solange put out a great, if not one of the best, R n B/Funk cd's this year! She, in my opinion, beat out Beyonce for 2008.

In other Beyonce related news, has anyone seen Mama Tina lately? She is the real Sasha Fierce...At 54 years old she seems to be getting better with time! Check out a pic of Tina from the Cadillac Records movie premier earlier this week....In the pic with her is blues icon Etta James...who at 70 is also killing the red carper with her fierce swag! They both are simply stunning...and reiterate the good ol' saying: Black Don't Crack!
