So, Beyonce and Nicki Minaj just came through and snatched a few more wigs during their Tidal concert the other night. Also, this is sure to be the BFF Halloween Costume of choice next week.

Halloween Costume Ideas
General Glam - Halloween 2011 |
Little fact about me: I secretly wish I could wear a costume on a daily basis. There's something so nostalgic about dressing up and letting your playful inner life force seep out.
Last year I dressed up as "general glam" and had a ball rocking my military inspired costume all night. After making my list of top costume ideas for 2012, it dawned on me that option #2 looks so similar to my fit from last year I should probably pass on it. The top contenders are #1 and #4....which means I'll more than likely be rocking a bodysuit this year so I need to hit the gym and get these legs looking right. Well, legs and waistline. I don't want those types of struggles lol..
It might seem early to get your costume together, but seriously folks... October is only a few days away!
These are the Top 4 Costumes in the running for Halloween 2012.

Shrinkage is real + Halloween Recap
I feel compelled to start this post with a complete soul baring moment of honesty. Not many people show you pictures of their hair looking a hot ass mess, but I like to keep things 100% real on my blog and I want to let people know that natural hair is no joke. A hair style can start off SMOKING HOT and burn in flames by the end of the night.
Exhibit A - - Halloween night my hair was GREAT but I knew the humidity in the club would ruin it. The hat my costume came with was the master of disguise, but at the end of the night - - SHRINKAGE IS REAL!!! My girlfriends and I got a great belly laugh when I took my hat off and revealed my big surprise. My shit was busted. However, I was white boy wasted at this point and could care less about my hair lol... still, it was a slight shock that my straight hair held up so well. I probably should've left the hat off lol.
As I mentioned in my post on Friday, I was planning a slightly ratchet birthday weekend with my girls and I did exactly that. Well, Friday night was next level ratchetry (is that a word?) and guess what - - I enjoyed EVERY.SECOND. I grabbed a hotel downtown for the weekend and was in staycation mode.
Sidebar: I'm completely smitten with River North!!! Must.Live.There.Now!
Friday (prior to doing hoot rat things), my company hosted a happy hour where I found myself experimenting with red wine and beer. I actually stunned myself by drinking 2 beers (also learned how to use a keg lol) and was feeling quite nice as I left work for the day. Note that even though my curls were falling (it was kinda warm in my building that day), my hair was still together for the most part.
After failing to hail a cab for what felt like an eternity, I made the short trek to the hotel where I met up with the birthday girl and proceeded to get the night started.
We celebrated at the TGIFresh Halloween Masquerade event @ Tantrik and let me just say, their $40 wrist band deal is a thing of beauty!! $40 for an open bar 9p - Midnight? Yes, please.

Also, many props to Beauty by Valina, the makeup artist that handled my girlfriend's makeup! She did an amazing job recreating the Lady Gaga Born This Way skeleton look, and the birthday girl looked amazeballs in her costume!! My costume wasn't too shabby either lol... but nobody was touching my girl!

It felt nice to be out celebrating one of my best friends, seeing her surrounded by her favorite people - - just growing older together. *electronic tear*
I was excited to try the escargot bourguignonne (one of my favorite things), but I still think Bijan's has them beat. The sea scallops were delicious and the lamb meatballs hit the spot too. The food at Paris Club is basically a French version of a Spanish Tapas spot. The prices are mid-range and overall everything was pretty yummy. We did have great service, but the server goofed up our check pretty big time, so that glitch did leave a sour taste in my mouth. I think this place would be great for bday dinners for rather large groups (6-10 people), but in terms of Tapas, Cafe Babareeba is still my hands down favorite place ever!!!
Most of us were still wiped out from doing hood rat things Friday night, so we called it a night after dinner. I crawled back into my hotel bed and drifted off to sleep. My staycation was amazing! I need to do that at least once a month.
How'd you spend your Halloween weekend? Any ratchet moments? lol...

Halloween Recap
My name is Ishea and I got caught up in the hype of Halloween '09. I bought 3 costumes, 1 pair of fangs and had big plans of partying non-stop. That all came crashing to a halt when I realized that the strep throat I'd been fighting all week was not going to leave in time for the weekend.
Friday night I put my fatigue aside, threw on my Gossip Girl/Naughty School Girl outfit and headed to The Shrine for their Halloween Soul party. It was free before 1030p and my boyfriend and I made it in time by sheer luck. Once the clock struck 10:31p they started charging $20 and despite having DJ Mick Boogie, it was definitely NOT worth $20. The night featured tons of old school music (almost TOO much), a soul train line, and a decent amount of partygoers in costume... but I won't lie.. I could've easily stayed home and got rest.
The remainder of my weekend was spent relaxing with my boyfriend and his family in the 'burbs. We did drag ourselves out of the house last night to see Paranormal Activity and... ummm... yeah... SAVE YOUR $. This movie was definitely NOT scary. While it had its moments that'd make you jump, the same could've been achieved by watching an episode of A Haunting on Discovery.
I'm writing this blog post exhausted and ready to curl up in a ball and get some rest...but on a positive note, I have my costumes already for the next 2 Halloweens!!!
Hope Everyone had a great holiday weekend...
xoxo

Halloween for the Cheap
I'm all about being recession savvy and having fun while saving $. Halloween weekend is going to be full of things to do and I just stumbled upon a great deal.
The Shrine will be hosting their Halloween Soul party on Friday night featuring the amazingly talented DJ Mick Boogie. I've been listening to Mick Boogie's mixtapes for years now and can personally assure everyone that he is the business! With an RSVP to the event, you'll guarantee yourself complimentary cover before 1030p ... and if you read my blog about my experience there last weekend, you'll be sure to do a nice amount of pre-drinking before you get to the club.
As with most holiday weekends, be sure to take extra precautions while out on the roads. It's easier to determine who your designated driver will be before the night gets started... and by designated driver I mean someone that is not going to drink ANYTHING... not the person that seems to be the least drunk at the end of the night.
Hope everyone has a fun weekend!!!

Trick -or-Treat
Halloween is right around the corner and I'm thrilled to get a head start on my costume search. Last year I waited until the last minute and braved the long lines and overcrowded stores to pick up my little gem - - this awesome military inspired outfit.
Halloween 2008

I was perusing Trashy.com (a great place to go for all your costume needs- - be it kinky, fetish or halloween) and found these top 4 contenders for my 2009 Halloween costume! I'd love to get feedback on what everyone thinks. You can probably tell that I have a thing for that military girl gone bad/naughty cop theme...maybe it's the inner-dominatrix that I try my best to keep at bay :)
