The Walking Dead: Season 2 Episode 4

So, yesterday I was sick and spent the day at home resting up, staying hydrated, and catching up on all my DVR shows. I finally got to watch Sunday night's episode of AMC's "The Walking Dead" (my favorite show), and boy oh boy.. was that one hell of a twist at the end!!! My God this show is so freaking good.

I don't want to give anything away, but I did want to take a moment of silence out for bad boy Shane Walsh's body!! Yowzers... He hopped out the shower, shaved that head, and I was in love.

He's technically not a "thick neck," but those traps (and abs) do make my heart skip a beat. I wish the camera panned down and showed the rest of his delightful body. It's truly delectable.

Note to the producers - - please keep his hair cut like this for the rest of the season!!! I swear you'll gain more female fans lol...

As for the rest of the episode, I'm continuing to love the performance of this ensemble cast. It's giving me tinges of nostalgia for how Grey's Anatomy used to be before Burke left... I love this cast! I still think Dale is annoyingly overprotective of Andrea (if she wants to off herself let her...) and I'm a little smitten with Daryl. With his racist brother gone (though I heard he's coming back this season possibly), I think he's having a chance to spread his wings and find his place in the group. T-Dog I'm on the fence about... maybe because his name is "T-Dog" lol...  Glenn should have more lines, but I wonder if a relationship will grow between him and that new girl (forgot her name). I'm hoping that Carol's daugher Sophia doesn't come back... I even wished for Carl to not make it lol... I think the kids slow the group down.

Is anyone else watching? This show is pretty much the most amazeballs thing on TV right now.

Design Talk with Niki McNeil

Ever wish you could sit around with your girlfriends gabbing about the latest in interior design? Well, if you're like me and completely obsessed with HGTV, interior design blogs, and magazines, Niki McNeil -- interior designer and blogger for SingleBubblePop has the perfect web series for you!

Design Talk features Niki and her design enthusiast friend Tricea, discussing everything from their favorite design magazines and TV shows, to fashion and DIY projects. The best part? It's interactive! Feel free to tweet or email Niki your questions and she can answer them on future episodes. (I'm already picking her brain about how to design a rental to get the biggest bang for your buck).

This web series has quickly become a favorite for me because I'm hooked on all things interior design, yet have nobody to discuss it with... well, actually I force my husband to watch HGTV with me and SexyandtheChi and I can talk about interiors all day... but this definitely gives me my design fix 24/7.

In their first webisode (below), they're discussing House Beautiful's November 2011 issue.

Shrinkage is real + Halloween Recap

I feel compelled to start this post with a complete soul baring moment of honesty. Not many people show you pictures of their hair looking a hot ass mess, but I like to keep things 100% real on my blog and I want to let people know that natural hair is no joke. A hair style can start off SMOKING HOT and burn in flames by the end of the night.

Exhibit A - - Halloween night my hair was GREAT but I knew the humidity in the club would ruin it. The hat my costume came with was the master of disguise, but at the end of the night - - SHRINKAGE IS REAL!!! My girlfriends and I got a great belly laugh when I took my hat off and revealed my big surprise. My shit was busted. However, I was white boy wasted at this point and could care less about my hair lol... still, it was a slight shock that my straight hair held up so well. I probably should've left the hat off lol.

As I mentioned in my post on Friday, I was planning a slightly ratchet birthday weekend with my girls and I did exactly that. Well, Friday night was next level ratchetry (is that a word?) and guess what - - I enjoyed EVERY.SECOND. I grabbed a hotel downtown for the weekend and was in staycation mode.
Sidebar: I'm completely smitten with River North!!! Must.Live.There.Now!

What! Me drinking beer? Yes!
Friday (prior to doing hoot rat things), my company hosted a happy hour where I found myself experimenting with red wine and beer. I actually stunned myself by drinking 2 beers (also learned how to use a keg lol) and was feeling quite nice as I left work for the day. Note that even though my curls were falling (it was kinda warm in my building that day), my hair was still together for the most part.

After failing to hail a cab for what felt like an eternity, I made the short trek to the hotel where I met up with the birthday girl and proceeded to get the night started.

We celebrated at the TGIFresh Halloween Masquerade event @ Tantrik and let me just say, their $40 wrist band deal is a thing of beauty!! $40 for an open bar 9p - Midnight? Yes, please.

Also, many props to Beauty by Valina, the makeup artist that handled my girlfriend's makeup! She did an amazing job recreating the Lady Gaga Born This Way skeleton look, and the birthday girl looked amazeballs in her costume!! My costume wasn't too shabby either lol... but nobody was touching my girl!

General Glam
After nursing a gnarly hangover for most of Saturday, we headed to Paris Club Chicago for a late dinner.

It felt nice to be out celebrating one of my best friends, seeing her surrounded by her favorite people - - just growing older together. *electronic tear*

I was excited to try the escargot bourguignonne (one of my favorite things), but I still think Bijan's has them beat. The sea scallops were delicious and the lamb meatballs hit the spot too. The food at Paris Club is basically a French version of a Spanish Tapas spot. The prices are mid-range and overall everything was pretty yummy. We did have great service, but the server goofed up our check pretty big time, so that glitch did leave a sour taste in my mouth. I think this place would be great for bday dinners for rather large groups (6-10 people), but in terms of Tapas, Cafe Babareeba is still my hands down favorite place ever!!!

Most of us were still wiped out from doing hood rat things Friday night, so we called it a night after dinner. I crawled back into my hotel bed and drifted off to sleep. My staycation was amazing! I need to do that at least once a month.

How'd you spend your Halloween weekend? Any ratchet moments? lol...

Halloween, General Glam style...

Happy Halloween weekend to everyone!! I'm hours away from what is sure to be an amazing weekend with some fab ladies. One of my besties, and fellow blogger, is celebrating her birthday and the ratchetness is sure to ensue... in a good way of course! Our big Dominican Republic trip is on deck within a few months, so we're keeping things lowkey, yet still fabulous with a staycation weekend of sorts.

General Glam

I had no luck finding my favorite Halloween costume EVER from 2008, (I still have this costume, but it's packed away at my house in Arizona...) and those 3 costumes I bought back in 2009 and didn't get to wear? Those are in Arizona too... packed in a box lol.

This year I opted to go back to my 2008 military inspiration and picked up the "General Glam" costume!! I'm pretty much obsessed with this, but we'll see how everything comes together tonight. The club we're heading to has wreaked HAVOC on my natural hair in the past (i.e. it's a fucking sweat box), so I'm going to arm myself with bobby pins, a hair tie, and the hat that (thankfully) my costume came with.

What are your holiday plans?
