Unlike life on many reality shows, most regular people don't go to sleep with a full face of makeup on each night (i.e The Kardashians, Real Housewives, etc...). One of my favorite makeup artists, Miss Drini, started a new hashtag called #TeamEitherWay showcasing her flawless execution as a makeup artist, along with her natural, makeup free beauty at the end of the day.

Why is this so awesome? Well, because it's easy to see all of the faces on Instagram beat to perfection and forget that while beautiful, it's really a transformation with the art of makeup. This isn't a rant about how makeup is bad, and no... I'm not about to go off about folks that use #NoFilter #NoMakeup while having a filter AND makeup lol... but just celebrating the fun we girls (and some guys) can have with beauty products, but give balance and perspective that no, I didn't wake up like this (Sorry Beyonce).

This also comes on the heels of an insightful post and YouTube video from blogger Shannon T. Boodram on the effects Instagram is having on self-esteem. Definitely check it out and share your thoughts using the hashtag #HowToLookLikeMe.

Paying for Instagram Followers?

It's safe to say the world is coming to an end... I can actually say I know someone that paid for thousands of Instagram followers.

*pause*

In general, the concept of paying for followers on any social media site is nuts... completely beyond me! I mean, who wants to pay for stuff in general... let alone pretend people online. I just can't imagine doing this and find it pathetic it would ever be necessary to stoop to this level. So, have you ever known someone to pay for followers on social media sites?

Do your Eyebrows need an Intervention?

I was getting ready to write a blog post about how my eyebrows needed an intervention when I was stopped in my tracks. One of my favorite Instagram makeup artists - - MissDrini - - posted a picture of her eyebrow journey and I'll be damned... there was no topping it!!

Can we take a moment to praise God for the redemptive power of his grace! Not only can he walk on water and part the seas... he can also grow your eyebrows back!!! That's a true miracle.

So, yeah... I'm hiding my tweezers from myself and focusing on staying consistent with my threading sessions.

Puppy Pulling Your Hoe Card?

While you've been living your life... going to work, going out and being awesome, maybe being consistent in Luvvie's #31WriteNow blog challenge, I've been adjusting to life as the pet parent of a puppy! It's been 10 years since I had a puppy and I'm quickly remembering how consuming they are. 

Now, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but since I was born with a soft spot for 4 legged friends, it's safe to say the puppy is running me... or as my boyfriend would say, she's pulling my hoe card lol. Just take a look at my Instagram (above)... yes, I can officially admit that I'm obsessed with my dog.

Khaleesi is the insanely adorable puppy that entered our lives last week and has proceeded to be the center of all things. My boyfriend would paint a different picture (he's much more of a disciplinarian), but my life force is mush.

When she whimpers, whines, or moans... I'm on high alert to make sure she's okay. *Le sigh* She just hit 12 weeks on Thursday, so I'm bracing myself for another 3 months of work housebreaking her and getting out of the teething phase! Jesus be a chew toy... this puppy thinks everything is fair game for her nibbling desires, me in particular lol.

How to Take the Perfect Instagram Picture (via @rihanna)

Rihanna takes flawless pictures. Period. Be it for fashion giants like Gucci and Armani, or her personal Instagram - - the camera loves her and she loves herself.

In her recent Complex interview, the bad gal gave tips for how to take the best self portrait because nobody can capture you the way you see yourself.

For once I actually agree with her - - nobody can take a picture like you can of yourself! I have found myself irritated TOO many times with the lackluster photography skills someone displayed while trying to capture a shot out and about.

I'm not trying to be a photo snob, but even with my short arms I can capture the entirety of my essence like no one else can. We live in a social media, self-portrait obsessed culture and I for one don't mind.
