Poor Kim Kardashian

I know everyone is giving Kim Kardashian a hard time for basically rocking a couch to the Met Gala, but I woke up this morning feeling feisty and protective of her. Maybe it was the fact I ate popsicles until 3am and the sugar is affecting my brain, but something in my life force wanted to send out some love and support to Kimmie Cakes.

Fuck Anna Wintour! Seriously... Kim should adopt the attitude that she has not one entire fuck to give the American Vogue Editor-in-Chief. Wintour is a seemingly smug 63yo woman that lets her BFF Andre Leon Talley rock bath robes in public. I know Kardashian craves the spotlight and attention at desperate levels, but after being played like Boo Boo the Fool when Vogue cropped her out of the picture on their site (below), she should just give up her Wintour approved dreams of grandeur.

Another thing I feel like nobody wants to acknowledge is how much work it must take to stroke Kanye's ego. Just imagine waking up to the reality that you're carrying the spawn of Mr. West and the baby could be a bigger brat than he is! That's scary... I feel like Kim is constantly getting a bad wrap, but she let this man throw out all of her awesome clothes and proceed to dress her in black rags... and he never smiles or opens doors for her. It kinda sucks from the outside looking in and I do feel <--- this ---> bad for her.

Now, I'm sure Khloe and Kourtney are somewhere letting out a few laughs lol... but really they should intervene on their sister's life force and help her get the shit together.

@kmichelle: Refreshingly Candid

It's actually refreshing to see an artist be candid, yet pulled together in an interview. I didn't watch K. Michelle on Love and Hip Hop ATL, but I actually love her vibe in this interview... plus I've heard her songs and she can blow! I respect talent and anyone that can be candid about their mistakes and progress moving forward. Plus she praised God for his blessings and how it was hard to do a show like LAHH Atlanta while God was blessing her. Can't praise God for something on Sunday, then say "fuck this bitch" on Monday lol...

Domestic Violence and Reality TV: The Court of Public Opinion

A while ago I grew increasingly tired of Reality Trash TV. Between VH1 and Bravo, it seemed like I couldn't go 15 mins without seeing women acting crazy, fighting, yelling, and making fools of themselves for the sake of a reality check. I decided to put down the remote and stop watching. I didn't want to sit around complaining about the way they were representing women (black women in particular), yet continue to watch - - so I stopped watching.

Everyone knows Evelyn Lozado from VH1's "Basketball Wives" series and can attest to her feisty, immature nature... always ready to curse someone out or go up someone's head... with her hand or a bottle. It's a mess. When she made news for getting involved in a domestic dispute with NFL husband Chad Johnson folks were surprisingly (or maybe not so surprisingly) jumping to his defense and painting her as the bad person. Now, nobody was in the car so who knows how things actually went down... and in all honesty, who cares! She has a 3 inch gash on her forehead. Period.

What I care more about is her recently issued statement regarding domestic violence and wanting to take a stand against it... be the voice of women. I think that's all great, but how about taking a stand against violence in general. Don't be the chick that's ready to crack a chick's head open, then cry victim when your man cracks yours open. Violence really is violence. Keep your hands to yourself and treat people the way you want to be treated.

I found this ESPN coverage of the incident refreshing and I liked their stance. It's nice to hear real opinions and not the overly constructed, typical coverage most news organizations present. Violence and domestic violence is a very sensitive subject, but I'm curious to know everyone's thoughts on this.

Kim Kardashian’s Music Video “Jam (Turn It Up)” Directed By Hype Williams [Video]

**Update** Guess the video got pulled down just that fast! lol... Kim K stays on top of her stuff!

When her song didn't take off Kim Kardashian did a great job of making sure the music video never saw the light of day. The following is a clip I was sent via Bossip.com and although it's short, I don't think it's too shabby! Kim Kardashian is definitely NOT a singer, but Hype Williams did a wonderful job, as to be expected.

What do you think of the video?

Reality Wrap-Up

The City - Whitney (sticking to the reality script of everyone having to start off as friends) invited Olivia to a concert to watch Jay and his band perform. Olivia rocks Chanel on the regular... I wouldn't even waste my breath inviting her to a dive bar... let alone be seen in a place like that myself. After a few outfit changes Olivia was ready to go but the girls were running late. Whitney and Erin are like the worlds most passive people. I would've left Olivia if it were really that serious to be there by a certain time... or better yet, it's NY. Just let her hop in a cab and meet y'all there! Instead, Erin and Whitney nervously drank champagne and made crazy "we're running late but afraid to rush the almighty queen bee" faces. They finally arrived to the show, late of course, and while watching Jay perform (their music isn't that good to me... they remind me of a band that plays cover songs at a hotel in Hawaii) Olivia awkwardly moved to some beat and kept bumping into the girl next to her. Just because your rich doesn't mean you're void of rhythm. I suggest Olivia take a dance class or something STAT... but maybe all you need to do is look cute as you sip champagne in your VIP booth... Feeling "bad" about leaving early and making Whitney late for the show (this is what they want us to believe) Olivia gets Jay's band a gig at some charity event her friend is throwing. It's a swank hotel and Nevan and Olivia are shit faced that Jay and his bandmates show up in plaid shirts. They keep referring to them as the "plaid mafia"... I like Nevan because he's flamboyant but manages to still play the "I'm straight" card but he was being a tool the entire night. After his set, Jay grabs Whitney and they storm out. Olivia is disgusted that she wasn't thanked for setting the gig up for him. How dare he bite the hand that just fed him. Fast forward to Olivia and Whitney at work the next day. You can tell the uneasy tension that's in the air. The girls exchange a few words ( I really was hoping Whitney would throw a "fuck you bitch" or "kick rocks" towards Olivia... but no such luck). Olivia wins this round and keeps the upperhand throughout the conversation. She advises Whitney that they keep their work life separate from their personal lives. I can tell that things are going downhill from here. In other news, Erin is going back and forth between dating her current boyfriend (Duncan) or her ex and first love, J.R. Her story line is not nearly as pathetically dramatic as Allie but from next week's preview it looks like MTV will find a way to force a love triangle.

Daddy's Girls - Jessica is desperate for a larger butt (aren't all black girls?) and is eating everything in site to get one. She states that she wants her "track booty" back and the majority of the episode is spent watching her eat breakfast foods junk food and protein shakes. Vanessa and Angela are starting to feel cramped (due to Jessica staying in their living room) and start the process of looking for a house. (I wonder what'll happen to their neighbor Alycia when they move out of their "hills" apartment). They view a few different places and end up falling in love with one (see right) They make an offer and we'll have to see if they get the house.

Aubrey speaks out

With all of the Danity Kane hoopla going on, the usual motor mouth Aubrey O'Day managed to remain pretty mum on her side of the story. Today she released the following on her Myspace blog:

Aubrey on DK
..............Come one, come all… ....

It’s a new year…so as my dear friend Miss Woods says, ‘let’s find something new to talk about!’ My theme this year; let go of the past, and focus on all of the beautiful things that are about to fill
our future! I know most of you find that relevant to me in relation to my departure from dear ol’ DK. I’ve stayed away from directly responding or commenting on the negativity, or misguided views and judgments that have unfortunately been the voice of summarizing Danity Kane. But, since I’ve launched a new myspace, and have a new theme of the year… its only fair to finally put my
thoughts of DK to rest. ....

For those of you who care, Danity Kane was a beautiful experience, filled with all of life’s wonderful ups and downs, and I will forever be blessed to have had that experience with none other than Drea, Dawn, Shan, and D. Each one of those girls is a talent to be reckoned with… and beyond pure talent which I hands down experienced on a daily basis from each girl, each girl really did want to be a role model and change the world in their own little way… and that’s what made us real, what made us the truth, what made us something to believe in, and that inner desire on all of our parts has not changed… you may be seeing expression of emotions succeeding expression of actual reality, but that does not change the reality that ever girl in this group had a dream, and we fought long and hard to see it become reality. There is no rulebook to life, and how to handle your dreams once you get them. We are NOT a sad story of lose, betrayal, and something to teach you what not to do next time… we are a story of courage, determination, fearlessness, and at the end of the day, real emotion. We
made not have given the world the answer to how to make different types of women unite as one for eternity… but we wanted to try and that’s more than most do!
....

That all said, lets support the future of us all, and forgive the negativity and lost emotions. Life is to be enjoyed and cherished, and experience is something we should all be thankful for, not look at in regret. We all have lost jobs, suffered bad relationships, felt suffocated, unappreciated, sick of giving in, and determined to take a stand whether anyone is behind us or not… SO really, like we always said… we were never any different than anyone else… and we loved that! ....

THUS, My first blog! One of many to come,
I love you all, stay happy, its all we have!
....

Aubrey ....

P.S. cop the playboy in stored Feb. 13th, its only partial nudity… and one of the most beautiful works I’ve created thus far! Part of me finally letting it all go! ....

P.P.S. Remember guys… It’s not over when you lose, it’s over
when you quit!

I think she did a wonderful job of not addressing anything at all, but I'll commend her for turning over a new leaf and seeming to rise above all the craziness and move forward with her life. Kudos.

I wonder if Puff let her out of her contract or if he is going to still make some cash off of her? Mmmm...

Bad Girls Club: Season 3

Oxygen's "Bad Girls Club" is one of many guilty pleasure reality shows on TV. From the producers of "The Real World", BGC features 7 self-proclaimed "bad girls" living together in a mansion under the premise of working together to better themselves. Of course watching people better themselves isn't what our generation really wants to see in a reality show... so the show is full of cat fights, drama, and nights partying in LA.

The show always features memorable characters. Season 1 had Ripsi Terzian (pictured right) who after a night of drinking blacked out and went on an abusive rage against her castmates. It was hilarious to watch but landed Ripsi a 1-way ticket out of the Bad Girl's house. Nobody will forget season 2 castmate Tanisha Thomas who was the undisputed queen bee of the house. Tanisha had a larger than life personality and used intimidation and her Brooklyn ways to keep the majority of her roommates in check. She also managed to coin a few of her own terms... Tanisha could be heard yelling "Pop Off" to many people. Here's a clip of some of her funny moments:

This season just started but I'm curious to see how things will develop for the 2 black castmates. Tiffany Gibson (pictured left) is from Chicago and has remained low-key so far. Besides chain smoking, she hasn't been involved in much of the drama. the stereotypical loud, hoodrat...like The preview for next week's episode shows her possibly getting into a fight with the other black girl, Kayla Carter (often called K.C.). Kayla is from Cali and calling her ghetto or hood would be going easy. She is the EXTREME typecast. She is a sloppy drunk and usually ends up starting fights and being all over the place. She has a loud bark but I highly doubt the bite to match. Kayla is definitely the train wreck of the show but she could end up growing the most.

From The Hills... to The City... to The Hills again...oh my

Reality TV is my addiction and for the past 4 seasons "The Hills" has been my weekly fix. With the end in sight (I believe the finale is next week) there will undoubtedly be a huge void left. MTV has been working overtime to come up with shows to satisfy "The Hills" fans and some look promising (The City, Daddy's Girls) while others leave a lot to be desired (Bromance).

Whitney Port, a staple character of "The Hills" though not overly present will be continuing her story on "The City". The name is not original nor was Whitney an interesting/entertaining enough character to make me follow her story. I watched the preview and it seemed like this will be a decent show. I like the New York lifestyle...her job is amazing...but I am hoping that she'll grow more comfortable in front of the camera. Here's a preview:

Another show that I'm excited about is "Daddy's Girls" featuring Vanessa and Angela Simmons. It's nice for MTV to showcase young, black women that despite having well-off parents are making a name for themselves in the business world and having fun in the process. One thing I noticed is that it appears that MTV handed down the old apartment from "The Hills" that Lauren/Heidi/Audrina lived in to Angela and Vanessa...or maybe that's just the most popular building in LA...who knows! Joining the girls in LA is their cousin Jessica from New York as well as a neighbor Alyssia...or Alicia...(I don't know how she spells it). Be sure to check out the show premiering January 5th on MTV.

Real House(less) Wives of Atlanta

"The Real Housewives" series on Bravo quickly became one of my favorite reality shows. I enjoyed the women in Orange County, the bright personalities of New York, and the sassy ladies of Atlanta. During the show Nene Leakes quickly became my favorite housewife. Her ability to keep it real, be the life of the party, and have girlfriend gab sessions with friend and salon owner Dwight Eubanks kept me entertained.

After production of the show ended there was much speculation as to how lavish these women were truly living. In my opinion, DeShawn - though as enjoyable to see on tv as being forced to watch paint dry, was really the only housewife that was rich. Her family is beyond comfortable and with a 20,000 sq ft house they're doing fine. Kim seemed to be doing alright in her townhouse...much of her lifestyle being financed by "Big Poppa" and outside of her ridiculous spending, which he footed the bill for, appeared to be living her typical life...wait, minus that whole "music career" thing...but that's another blog. lol... Lisa is a savvy businesswoman and with the help of her husband (Former NFL player Ed Hartwell) seemed to be living very comfortably, thought smart...and as a side note, did anyone know that the NFL minimum salary for 4 years of experience, like Ed, is $510,000!!! What the hell! This is amazing...but it makes it pathetic that more athletes aren't infesting their money wisely...Anyways, Nene always had some mystery surrounding her. She didn't have a job, her husband was never seen working and besides saying that "he made things stable" for her and her oldest son we never got much else. I never saw her splurging on dumb shit but she was adamant that she "blessed".

In the news there have been a lot of inaccuracies being uncovered regarding Nene and Greg's " We are are the Jones' " lifestyle. First, Nene and Greg never owned the Duluth, GA home they lived in during taping, but merely rented. In addition, Greg has stated that he's a "real estate investor" but he owns a property management company, Advantage Move. On top of having $100,167.22 in tax liens against him for unpaid taxes, Georgia is requiring him to have a real estate license to run his business, which he doesn't - - so he'll be stepping down. The Atlanta Fox I-Team did a special investigation into Nene and Greg Leakes and it was really interesting. They allege that the $20,000 raised by Nene at her Twisted Hearts Foundation brunch (which was seen on the show) is unaccounted for.

Life is rough and the economy is awful right now. I always thought these chicks seemed ridiculous spending outrageous amounts of cash on meaningless things on the show. The point of the show is to showcase how the upper crust, elite members of society are living in an entertaining way. There's nothing entertaining about watching grown women bicker like teens while they really have nothing at all. I think Bravo needs to find some black women that are truly successful and not just riding the coattails of their athlete husband or perpetrating for the cameras.

Bad boys always win...

There's something about his messy, disheveled borderline gothic rocker addict look that hits the spot for me. His sexiness seeps out of my TV screen every Monday night on MTV's "The Hills" and I've definitely been left wanting more. I did a little research to find out what else there was to this bad boy (besides being MTV eye candy) and here's the scoop:

- about 25 yo
- former hairstylist
-models (appeared in Vogue Italia earlier this year)

Yeah, not much...lol...but here are some pics...because really, I would be fine with him never speaking a word! lol...
