Before you judge me, know that I had a childhood and drank copious amounts of kool-aid, however, I never actually made it myself until last weekend.
I posted a picture on instagram and was instantly clowned by my friends for using a measuring cup... but let me just say, why "season to taste" when you know that your taste prefers 1.5cups? I mean, where's the logic in that... I made 3 batches and guess what, they yielded consistent AMAZEBALLS results each time. On top of that I knew the exact amount of sugar I was consuming.
Anyways, kool-aid is pretty freaking awesome. Sidebar: It's the perfect way to make use of filtered water that needs a new filter lol

Big News...

I'm beyond thrilled to be heading back home and embarking on yet another adventure. My time in South Carolina was great for the simple fact I got to live with my husband (post deployment), and any military couple knows that the time you get together (in-person) is to be valued.
I'm already looking forward to falling back into city life and getting the chance to resurrect my favorite blog series: Adventures on the CTA!!! Yay for public transit and the daily hilarity it provides!

Dental 101: What you should know about your teeth
It only seems fitting that as soon as I was about to write this Dental 101 post, my very own dental office would contact me about how I owe them $185.80. Huh? $185.80? After paying thousands of dollars for work and maxing out my dental insurance twice, they so kindly notified me that $185.80 was the balance that my insurance company would not pay since it was over my yearly amount. *Blank Stare* One of my biggest pet peeves with dental offices is their methods of billing. My current dental office here in South Carolina has actually been pretty good (aside from overbilling me that one time lol) but this is definitely an annoyance. I had the 2nd phase of my work completed in April so getting a bill 3, almost 4 months later was not ideal. They explained that they were ending their fiscal year and had issues with their computers and billing system... blah blah blah... Another freaking dental bill to pay! I have one final phase of work to get done - - preventative work - - and will be SO happy once everything is done. I think I may throw a party... seriously!
Anyways, my hope is to pass along some great advice for others out there that find themselves suffering from their own dental woes or just wanting more information. I spoke with my friend, dental hygienist, and owner of one of the best smiles I know Jessica ---->
I asked some of the questions I was most curious about and hope it can help you too!
Q. Preventative care seems to be key in avoiding expensive dental bills down the road. What are the top things everyone should be doing at home to care for their teeth?
A. You are absolutely correct. Preventative care is very key in maintaining a healthy mouth. A lot of people don’t understand though that although attending your 6month appointments is important, it is just as important if not more to maintain proper home care. Brushing 2-3 times daily along with flossing, (at least once every other day if you are not able to every day), can keep plaque from building around and underneath the gum line leading to irritation and infection of the gums. It takes only a mere 48 hours for plaque to harden on most people’s teeth. Once that plaque has become hard, a dental professional will need to remove it. Hardened plaque beneath the gum line, properly termed calculus or tartar, is the catalyst that causes your body to go into fight mode. Once your body starts trying to “attack” the calculus, one may develop gingivitis or even worse, periodontal disease.
Q. Why is it that some people never floss and can walk around cavity free, while others (like myself) brush, floss, and use mouth wash and seem to have cavities and root canals everywhere? Does my mouth hate me or are some people more prone to dental problems?
A. Dental decay and or periodontal problems can actually be hereditary. Some people naturally carry in their mouths the bacteria that cause decay or periodontal disease. I have seen patients who have a mouth that is pristine, free of plaque, and they still have so many issues. They try so hard at home care and cannot seem to get ahead. It is just important for these people to be sure and get in to the dentist regularly in order to address these problems when they are small.
Q. You've mentioned to me before that a fluoride rinse should be used daily. What exactly is a fluoride rinse and how does it differ from regular mouthwash like Scope or Listerine?
A. Fluoride is a compound element derived from a mineral that is used to strengthen the enamel on the teeth. I actually recommend it for everyone, problems or no problems only because it can help with everything from dental sensitivity to prevention of decay. It differs from scope and Listerine because fluoride re-mineralizes/ re-hardens enamel and rinses like Listerine kill bacteria in the mouth/ attempt to freshen the breath. A lot of people are apprehensive about fluoride because of beliefs that it can be harmful to the body. Please be advised that research should be done about the risks and benefits of it’s use before discounting it from your regimen.
Q. I've heard dentists recommend certain procedures so the gums don't "blow up". What exactly does it mean for your gums to blow up?
A. I have never heard the term “gums blowing up”. My best guess is...well actually I don’t have a guess on that one LOL.
Q. When it comes to root canals are they necessary? And do you recommend getting put under the procedure?
Although I am a dental hygienist and I know most things about dentistry, my specialty is solely the gum and bone health. I would rather not go into depth on this question because this is not what I am licensed to do.
Q. How many times a year should we be visiting the dentist?
A. If no periodontal disease is present, visit every six months. If you have gum problems or issues you should come as recommended by your dentist or dental hygienist.
Q. How often should you change your tooth brush?
A. Every 2-3 months. As the bristles wear down, they are no longer cleaning your teeth as they should. 8. What are the most important things to look for in a toothpaste? Most tooth pastes have the same basic ingredients. I would make sure it has fluoride first and foremost. After that, it is up to what your needs are. Some people want to keep the stain at bay so they purchase a paste with whitening agent in it (i.e. peroxide).
Q. Can whitening toothpastes and/or strips harm your teeth?
A. For the most part the only adverse effect of over the counter whitening products is temporary tooth sensitivity. If you notice a tooth with open decay I would recommend not using whitening strips in that area because it could potentially damage the nerve of the tooth.
Q. It seems like it can be extremely difficult to find a dentist that you trust. What are the top things you suggest looking for in a dentist to make sure they're a good fit?
My mom is my dentist so I have never actually had the experience of looking for one, however, I think there are a few things I would look for if I had to. First thing would be someone’s willingness to recommend that Dr. Patients who are indifferent or displeased with the experience and work done more than likely will not think to recommend that Dr. I would want the best so I would definitely go with someone that a person close to me trusts. I would also have to view their work before I had any major work done by them. Just because they are a Dr and say they can do something doesn’t mean you should trust them without checking into things. Lastly, I would shop around and get consultations at several places. This might be costly but in the long run may be worth it to avoid a traumatic experience.

Golden Birthday
Today my husband and I are celebrating our golden birthday - - 27 on the 27th!
I'm not sure what I was expecting for this day, but it feels good to be surrounded by loved ones and growing older with the love of my life. I'm planning on enjoying the rest of my vacation in Chicago and can't wait to blog about everything that has been going on - - in particular, the craziness that I witnessed at the
Summer of the Sexy event held @ Sawtooth in the West Loop, along with the scariest boss ever @ Perez Mexican Restaurant.
Summertime in Chicago has a way of luring your back into city life and is making me feel nostalgic. Is a move in my future? Who knows... but for now I hope to see as many people as I can before I head back to South Carolina.
To everyone that has already sent birthday wishes my way, THANK YOU!!! I appreciate being shown so much love... even if Facebook is giving you a reminder and making it super easy lol... it's the thought that counts :)

What to do when your deodorant quits on you...
Today marks the first official day of summer and in South Carolina the humidity is intense!! I'd been a faithful Secret deodorant user for years, but recently felt like it was starting to fail me. I wouldn't even be engaging in strenuous activity, but it felt like my "Secret" was on the loose. There's nothing worse than feeling self-conscious about how you smell, and if anyone else can tell your pits are rebelling it's quite embarrassing.
My mother has sworn by Degree deodorant for years and she never smells bad lol... so I decided to make a switch and give the brand a try. It's been a few days and I can already see, and smell, the difference! Degree deodorant is amazeballs!!
My husband commented that I smelled like baby powder and I realized it was my pits... I was in heaven! After a ton of activities my pits were smelling super sweet (and not ripe lol) so Degree has been a success so far.
I've heard of people changing their face/body wash or shampoo/conditioner up because it feels like their body got used to it, but it never dawned on me that the same good be true for something like deodorant. Have you had to change up your brand recently?

Soaking up the Sun...
Yesterday it was 93 degrees, sunny, and blazing hot out. What better way to enjoy the heat than throwing on my suit and putting in some time by the pool!
It's easy to convince yourself that you need to do XYZ before you hit the beach/pool in your bikini but I decided that I'm going to embrace where my body is today. I've been working on cardio and have a ways to go before I feel like I'm back in my peak physical condition, but I refuse to allow my self-perceived flaws and shortcomings to keep me from enjoying life... especially the water! Sidebar: I'm obsessed with being in the water and would be happy doing most activities in the pool.I always find it funny that women are so eager to get breast implants because the only DD+ breasts that are fun are fake, in my opinion. Big boobs are annoying, can kill your waistline in the wrong outfit, and make finding cute bras and bikini tops a pain in the butt. I've been obsessed with rocking a triangle top and was thrilled to find a super supportive one last year. This photo does it no justice, but I snagged this suit at Target last year (it's a Converse suit) and it has double straps! I always feel locked and loaded in tight when I wear it.
I've also had my eye on Fig Leaves for their amazing selection of DD+ suits. If you're a busty lady definitely check out their site. The options are diverse and the prices affordable.
Going into these summer months continue to work on whatever fitness goals you have, but don't forget to stop and enjoy where you are right now. Buy clothes that fit you right now instead of waiting for what size you may be in a few months. When you prepare to hit the beach, don't necessarily dress to HIDE your flaws, but find something you're comfortable in and embrace you! I don't want to sound like some motivational speaker, but I could make a long video speaking about all the reasons I didn't want to throw on a suit... just know that if you've ever felt nervous to don a 2-piece you aren't alone!!

Cell Phone Intervention
It was like pulling teeth to get me to ditch my sidekick pre-2008, but I made the switch to my blackberry and it was heaven ever since....
That is until I stepped foot into the newsroom and realized my 2008 blackberry (yes, I haven't upgraded by phone in over 3 years) lacked the speed and updated technology I needed to be truly connected in today's society.
It's almost embarrassing to admit because my trusty blackberry has been with me through thick and thin.... but I need a cell phone intervention asap. I've been debating which phone I should get - - I desperately want to stick with a blackberry, but the brand needs to step it up. iPhones and Androids are taking over and I'm hoping my beloved blackberry and QWERTY keyboard can get back into the race. The revamped Sidekick 4G has me feeling a bit nostalgic... but my husband makes fun of me every time the commercial comes on.
My question to the blogosphere is what phones are you using? Have anyone tested the new sidekick? Should I wait for the iPhone 5? Will RIM ever revamp their blackberries? lol...

Allergies...
I was never someone to really "suffer" from allergies. I would get the occasional stuffy nose, but for the most part that was it. Let me just tell you that living in South Carolina is a whole different ball game. This state takes allergies to the next level! From what I've heard (and what my husband's doctor has said), most people experience allergy issues once they move to SC. With the Spring weather in full effect (and a mainly mild winter) I've had allergy ailments come out of nowhere and wreak havoc on my life.
We've all seen the commercials showing folks looking all crazy with red and watery eyes... well, itchy eyes are NOTHING to play with. I was a clueless as to what it was until it started hitting me, but about a month or so ago I couldn't keep my hands from rubbing my eyes. They itched beyond belief - - this nonstop, annoying, irritated feeling that despite how much I scratched and rubbed would not go away. There were nights I stayed awake rubbing my eyes, only to try using visine (barely worked) and fall asleep with a cold washcloth press on them. In addition to the itchy eyes I started experiencing itchy ears/throat. I was using q-tips at an alarming rate... but I have to admit it felt SO good to dig deep in my ears with those things. I know we're technically not supposed to use q-tips to clean our ears but it feels SO good.... especially when you're digging deep and hit that money spot! My god... Score one for the home team lol.
But back to the allergies lol - - I was tired of waking up with eyes that were fused together by discharge so I decided to give Allegra a try. I had originally bought it for my husband, but his doctor ended up putting him on different allergy meds so we had it lying around. Wow... this stuff did AMAZING things for me. I know it sounds a bit corny to go so hard for an allergy medicine, but I LOVE this stuff. If you're someone that doesn't necessarily suffer from allergies but are experiencing some issues I would recommend this. It's no longer prescription-only so you can get it OTC from any store. I only take 1 pill a day (they last 24 hrs) and I've had NO issues with it.
It feels wonderful being able to have my eyes function...
At a recent meet-up I attended someone suggested I try a neti pot for my allergies. I was wondering if anyone had used it before? If so, what did you think?

Could you live without Cable?

Time Warner is a crook in my opinion because not only do they charge you a fee each month for their DVR service, but they charge the fee for EACH DVR box you have. That was a new one to me... I was assuming we would get charged a flat rate, but if you have 2 DVR boxes in your house they you're paying the $10 DVR fee twice. On top of that you have to pay a monthly fee for the remotes, channels, and all the other shit they throw at you. I don't even want to say how much our bill is each month because it's crazy high.
Last night while my husband and I were watching Sons of Anarchy (a show he sucked me into watching and now I'm a fan) we started debating whether or not we should get rid of our cable. *GASP* Yes, me... the self-admitted reality TV freak is actually considering saying adieu to our box. I have to admit that it would be hard to walk away from a DVR, but it may be nice to just have basic cable and a basic price. If Bravo, Oxygen, and HGTV all come thru on basic cable I think I'll be okay with scaling back.
So, my question to everyone is do you have cable? If so, how much do you pay (if you don't mind sharing), and could you live without it?
Our Netflix membership has been so amazeballs that it's quickly replacing movies and even possibly TV in our lives... I wish we had gotten a membership sooner!!

Days like this I miss living in Chicago...
A year ago today one of my amazing BFFs gave birth to two of the most precious boys in the world! Not only are these adorable twins turning 1 today, but I'm blessed to be their god mother :)
I wish I lived in the same state as them because these are the years that seem to fly by. Before I know it they'll have their first day at school, first sport's game... girlfriend!! It feels good to be growing older with all of my friends and seeing them become wives, mothers, buisness-women... it's all very heart-warming.
Happy 1st Birthday to Noah & Nehemiah

I might start clipping coupons...
The idea of clipping coupons always seemed like something better suited to suburban housewives juggling a tight budget and 3+ rowdy kids; However, after saving $21.76 on my latest grocery trip I was singing a different tune.
I always loathed getting all of those circulars (aka junk mail) in my box, but I decided to start looking through them and seeing if I could actually save anything. It can seem like a waste of time to clip coupons just to save $.50 - $1.50, but if you can save about a dollar on each item you buy, buy about 20 things, and guess what - - you've just saved $20!!
Any hesitation or embarrassment I was previously feeling about carrying around coupons was thrown out the window when I got about $60 worth of things for under $40. That alone was enough to change me.
Does anyone else clip coupons?

My life in the Dental Chair...
Okay, I'm back! Well, kinda... I went in for another round of dental work on Thursday: 2 root canals, 2 temporary crowns, and 1 temp filling.
I'm a trooper and can usually handle pain well, but 5 hrs of dental work and getting numbed up 4 times left me in a bit of pain. This is actually the first time I took my pain meds which of course made me sleepy, but feeling as if you've just been punched in the face is not what's up.
It seems like my life wouldn't be complete without some level of dental drama and this visit didn't disappoint. After my 5 hr marathon treatment I was notified that my dentist would no longer be working with my insurance company as of May 1st. Hearing the news felt like getting punched in the stomach. I had finally worked out the kinks with my dentist and was enjoying this practice. Just being with people that I was starting to build a relationship with and starting to trust... only to find out that I had to complete my dental work with another office. Even though this round of work maxed out my dental benefits for this year, as I stated in a previous blog, I'm still able to receive services at the discounted rate (sans the provider co-pay), so financially I must find a new office to keep my bill affordable.
On a happier note, I only have 1 round of things left to do: 1 root canal/crown and a few fillings! I plan on finishing up my treatment by mid summer so going into the fall my mouth will be operating at nearly 100% - - only leaving my wisdom teeth left up to be removed. I've been sticking my feelers out to get a better understanding of the process of getting my wisdom teeth pulled out. I'm on the fence about having a doctor put me under and using an IV... but still foggy on the other options.
For now, I'm closing in on the final laps of my preventative care. Again, I urge everyone to stay on top of their annual dental visits. Preventative care really is everything. Catch those cavities early on, get them filled, and live your life!! I'm over root canals at this point.

Update...
I can't believe it's been a week since my last post....
Suffice it to say that I've been busy living life, balancing marriage and fulltime school, and just spending some quality time with my husband... precious moments that I've not been blogging or tweeting lol.
In terms of things I can update everyone on:
I received my first package to review from NaturallyCurly.com!! I just filmed the review and will be sharing that with everyone, along with a review of my Frank & Myrrh earrings (Moptop Maven's jewelry line). What else? My husband and I are in the process of adopting another cat! Well, we're still debating. We found one that we like and are thinking about expanding the family. She was adorable, but I want to make sure Smudge doesn't feel betrayed. Yes, I sound slightly crazy but I feel like he's our little prince and our household functions pretty well... I just want to make sure that introducing another cat to the mix goes smoothly. Oh yeah, and my husband has been obsessed with the idea of getting a greyhound, a breed that I find to be atrocious. They are WAY too lean for my taste and kinda look like they'd be the first breed to turn into zombie dogs lol. Random, I know... but I like beefier looking dogs.

Don't get played at the Dentist's Office...

Dentists make agreements with insurance companies to offer their services at a discounted fee in turn gaining the clients of the insurance company. When having a service done a portion of the fee is typically paid by the insurance company thus leaving the remaining balance to be paid by you at the time of service. Some dentists are notorious for leading clients to believe that once their insurance premium for the year is maxed out that they no longer are able to receive services at the discounted rate, but PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH!!
Even if you have maxed out your dental benefits for the year know that you are still supposed to be receiving the services at that discounted rate. I realized that I was overcharged by my dentist's office because they were in fact charging me their regular fee for services, NOT the fees they agreed upon with the insurance company. When I spoke with them about this last month they led me to believe that the insurance company had "paid more than they anticipated" therefore causing money to be left over. I was excited about this at first, but once the warm fuzzy feelings wore off I wanted to figure out how a mistake like this happened. The extra $400 would have been money I eventually applied toward the rest of the dental work I need to have done, but having them sit on my cash is not what's up.
It took a few hours but I was able to clear up the billing errors with them and insure that this wouldn't happen again. I know some people are already aware of this, but for those that were in the dark I wanted to share this information. Dental bills can already be astronomically high and price gauging is not ethical. Make sure you're triple checking your dental bill PRIOR to services to make sure the prices match what they should be charging you, and don't hesitate to call your insurance company.
On another note, I'm going in for another round of root canals/crowns in 2 weeks and this appointment will be a doozy. Supposedly it will take all day because they're tackling numerous teeth. I'm actually hoping that these are the final root canals I'll have to get done. Advice for the week? Preventative care is everything!!

When good help goes bad...
There's nothing worse than someone helping you out with something, yet resorting to hanging it over your head whenever they can. My mother has paid my car insurance for, well... for forever lol. However, whenever we have an inkling of a disagreement she "conveniently" reminds me that I can start looking for my own coverage.
Now, don't get me wrong... I'm extremely grateful to have a mother that is capable and willing to help me out. Plus, I'll be 27 this year so it's not out of the box to think about getting my own coverage lol... but I already am a stubborn type of person that loathes asking anyone for help (even my parents), so it's just super annoying to get the car insurance thing thrown in my face.
I'm sure I run the risk of sounding like a brat even having this complaint, but it's not like I'm a trust fund kid, living off my parents, or even getting broken off with money from them. This isn't to say my parents aren't uber supportive, encouraging and help me out in whatever ways they can... but I'm not some Beverly Hills brat whining about nothing.
I was curious as to if anyone else out there has ever found themselves in a similar situation with your parents, friends or other family members? Better yet, who do you have your car insurance with? Looks like I'll be shopping around for coverage lol.

The value of a smile...
I should probably blame my mother for instilling this borderline obsessive compulsive fixation with teeth in me, but as I've gotten older I can't deny the importance of a great smile. Now, I think I have a nice smile but if you break down the actual composition of my teeth I almost feel like they're working against me. My teeth treat my mouth like public enemy #1. Why the animosity? It feels like no matter how much I brush, floss, rinse with mouth wash... every time I step into the dentist's office I need a filling, root canal, crown... something!
For anyone that has experienced their own set of dental woes, you're aware that just a few procedures can rack up a hefty bill. Maybe hefty isn't a strong enough word... Dental work can rack up astronomical costs.... costs that leave you fighting back tears as you struggle to make your co-pay and get out of the office before the hygienists see you breakdown... (or was that just me? lol...)
Wednesday I headed to the dentist to get my permanent crown put in, and after handling some billing issues was told that I had overpaid for my root canal/crown procedure and had a credit!! I literally wanted to cry - - it felt like the dental gods were shining down on me from the heavens. Since I'm not working and still had a list of dental things to get done (not cosmetic, but necessary things) the fact that I have a credit at the dentist's office is kinda like winning the lottery.
To make a long story short, I've been getting my dental work done in stages over the past few years with the left side of my mouth being the last thing on deck. If you're familiar with the cost of a root canal and crown then you're aware of how just 1 tooth can max out your insurance for the year. I currently have 2 (maybe 3) root canals left to get done. For the dentally hip, #13 and #15 .... with #14 being a borderline "maybe".
#13 is next up on my list and I found this picture of Dawn (Danity Kane/Dirty Money) with her #13 tooth pulled!! This was my inspiration to stay focused on getting my dental work handled.
I just don't understand why people don't invest more money into their smiles... especially teeth that are in your smile line! Like I said before, I'm obsessed with teeth/smiles and could rant about this all day long. For now, God has blessed with me with a way to get all of my remaining dental work completed this year and I'm on cloud nine.

What dreams are made of...
"As light jubilantly bounced from the chandeliers and sparkles gleamed from the marble floors, an overwhelming sense of peace came over me. I was in heaven... heaven on earth... Forever21!"
Sunday night I dreamed a dream. The kind of dream that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. The kind where you find yourself awoken with a grin still lingering on your face. I dreamed that Forever21 came to South Carolina and I was working there!
It may seen strange that one would fill with delight over the idea of working at Forever21, but I don't think you all understand - - South Carolina doesn't have ONE Forever21 store and since moving here in October, my inner fashionista has slowly been withering away.
This is the first time I haven't worked a corporate job in 7 years.... which is both scary and a bit strange since I'm only 26... but I've been obsessing over the idea of working at Forever21 while my husband finishes out his military contract. The life of a stay at home wife/student isn't necessarily bad... I mean, waking up whenever I want for the first time in YEARS is quite nice, but I do find myself missing the team environment you get with a company and just being around pretty things. Say what you will, Forever21 is my happy place and I LOVE being there. When I worked in Chicago I would spend my lunch breaks wandering around Michigan Ave... sometimes even making a dash for Water Tower or State St. so I could peruse the racks at my favorite store.
South Carolina is scheduled to get their first Forever21 this spring and I've set my sights on the possibility of working there. Now, I've never worked retail before, but I do consider myself to be the ultimate Forever21 consumer. I know what kind of experience I liked when I was dishing out money, so creating that experience for others would be a breeze.
I still have my feelers out there for any media-related jobs, but the market in SC is rather dismal at best. Forever21 seems like a good option right about now... we'll see how things progress.

Living in the moment...
I was having a conversation with my mother the other day about what kind of car she wanted to buy once she completed her PhD next year. She said a Rolls Royce. I laughed... not because this was a stretch for her (she had a Rolls Royce when I was younger) but because this was my mom giving me one of her classic moments. She is the epitome of luxurious and bourgeoisie... yet down to earth and warm. It's a crazy mix... but she likes $ and she loves nice things. I told her that I thought getting a Rolls Royce was ridiculous and a waste of money. She then began to tell me how she was in the last hoorah of her life (she turns 56 this year) and while I had a lifetime ahead of me, in 20 yrs she'd be 100 (gross exaggeration) and she didn't have time to be frugal... but instead wanted to spend her time living! She said that people always try to hold back in life and wait for tomorrow to enjoy certain things but today is here so why not live. Now, this was a convincing argument but I still think a Rolls Royce is a ridiculous splurge. I joked that my step dad better be driving her around so she doesn't get jacked... lol
This did, however, make me think back to an episode of Oprah where she spoke about using the nice bath stuff she had bought and not waiting for another day. Kinda like how some folks used to buy nice furniture yet keep the plastic on. Like, why are you trying to preserve this stuff? I mean, for what? To enjoy it when? There's a fine line between living and splurging... being cheap and being smart with your money. Where do you stand?
I've worked fulltime since I was 19... and real jobs with real hours and been responsible for real bills. It's hard to be ridiculous when you know better at an early age. I used to dream about being hood rich but knew that shit was for the birds... yet, I still watched some folks around me live that life and wondered how they could do it in such a carefree way! I'm sorry but it rubs me the wrong way to forgo paying bills to buy this or that. It pains me to pay something the day it's due or late... I like to pay my bills early. I mean, you know in advance not just the day it's due.... I'm on a tangent... lol... but I do sometimes struggle with deciding between a purchase that's treating myself for working hard... or being ridiculous and getting caught up in the hype. How do you guys differentiate between living in the moment and enjoying life and being irresponsible? I'm curious... especially balancing all of that in this tough economic time.

Life Happens...
My life has undergone a complete transformation within the last 7 months and it has all brought me back to a favorite quote of mine....
There are many times in life when we fall short of our goals and find a seemingly comfortable parking space - - be it personally, professionally, romantically... we become content, comfortable, or wake up and realize we've settled for less than what we truly want. However, it is never too late to start living the life you want.
As an adult, we are responsible for our own actions and really are in control of our future. Life is too amazing and wonderful to waste time accepting a life less than that of what you'd like to be living out. It doesn't take all day to recognize sunshine, nor does it take all day to realize you're miserable. Do yourself a favor and get an exit plan and prioritize some happiness in your life.
*my blogging has been fairly inconsistent lately due to me moving and getting ready to embark on a new adventure!!! I hope to have things back to normal within the next few weeks*
