Fashion Fix: Racerback for the DD girl

All Summer long I've been loving these Burnout Racerback Tanks I found @ Urban Outfitters. I had previously looked for racerback bras but had a difficult time - - few designers actually make this style in DD sizes. Walking around with my straps showing was a bit tacky, but I loved these tanks so you know... I wanted to wear the tops so I said "eff" the straps lol. After a comment from my mother ("What kind of woman walks around with her bra straps showing?") I knew it was time to really invest in a quality racerback bra.

I did some searching online and narrowed things down to the Wacoal T-Back bra available at most Nordstrom and Macy's stores (style #65124). Not only does this bra come with the supportive underwire big boobs love, but it's also seamless and looks great under most clothes. The colors aren't spectacular - - you can only choose from black, nude or white... but I promise you that this will quickly become your go-to bra. This is currently selling for $42.

Cute bras. I have a similar problem, so I'll check them out.

Your mother is a woman after my own heart. Seeing bra straps, even if they are clear is so atrocious...

I never could find a racerback bra that gives me enough support. Thanks!

Also, is it padded enough to prevent nippage? This is one of my peetpeeves when finding a bra

@ Chinye - This bra does not have any padding which is why I liked it so much. I have a 36DD chest and I always find padding to be too much. I wanted support and comfort without the added effect of too much cleavage. It's still in the 100s in Arizona so I haven't had to worry about "headlights".

If you're looking for a Racerback that does offer a bit of padding in DD sizes, check out the Natori line. They have a great one ----> http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/3086714?origin=related-3086714-0-0-2

It's very comfortable but had too much padding for my liking. It may work for you though.

Thanks for this post! It's really hard to find supportive non standard bras. I tried that multi use adjust a strap mess from VS. Ummm No m'am. LOL!

@ GorgeousPuddin - I think VS makes cute bras for those A-C, but they lack support for larger chests. Don't get me wrong... I've still bought a few here and there, but for the cost you can head over to Nordstrom and get much better quality.

@South Loop Social Light thanks for the tip. I'm going to take a trip to nordstrom this weekend and try a few on to see what works best.

Hey, Ishea! Just saw this and wanted to also recommend Strap Perfect and/or Spanx Bra-llelujah, too. I know the infomercials are cheesy as hell, but those things work. I'm a DD too, so I feel your pain... - Nic

@ Nicci - I always thought about trying Strap Perfect but never got around to it. I've been desperate and used a huge safety pin to get the job done before lol but Strap Perfect is a great option for those that have a favorite bra they want to get another use out of.
